Childbirth Training With EPI-NO
During Delivery
In the last phase of birth, the parturition phase, your baby leaves the uterus, head first on its way towards the vaginal exit.
The baby's head normally has a diameter of 9 cm at birth.
When entering the vaginal passage muscles unaccustomed to stretching must expand to accommodate the baby. This can result in spontaneous tears of the perineum, or an episiotomy may be performed, a procedure which can be associated with pain and the increased probability of subsequent unpleasant complications.
The EPI意O birth training exercises are designed to gradually and gently stretch the vaginal muscles, increasing their elasticity, thus allowing the baby to pass with greater ease shortening the parturition phase.
The EPI意O birth trainer is designed to offer relief.
Preparing for the birth of your baby?
Perineal massage in the preliminary phase of delivery is a common method of preparing for childbirth, and often recommended by midwives as a cautionary protection of the perineum. Nevertheless a spontaneous perineal tear is registered in two thirds of all deliveries.
But today with EPI意O, that need not be necessary at all!
The EPI意O Birth Trainer enables you to actively prepare your body for the stress to which it will be exposed during the parturition phase. EPI意O exercises gently and naturally stretch the perineal tissue.
Mothers experiencing their first childbirth are gradually familiarised with the sensation of delivery as the daily exercise regimen concludes with "pushing out" the balloon, in a simulation of delivering your baby.
How EPI-NO Works
EPI意O birth training commences three weeks prior to the date on which your baby is due. The daily exercises are performed at home and an effective session will take no more than 20 minutes each day. This is sufficient to gradually stretch the perineal tissue. You, the mother, determine the pace of training.
EPI意O birth training promotes elasticity by pre-stretching the perineal tissue. Elasticity significantly reduces the probability of a perineal tear, or of an episiotomy during delivery. If the perineum remains intact, permanent regeneration of muscles and tissue is facilitated. Not only can the retrogression phase be accelerated, possible after-effects occur less frequently.
How EPI-NO Birth Training Works
EPI意O Birth Training exercises start by inserting the balloon about two thirds of the way into the vagina. The balloon is stabilized by its contoured waist in this position in the vaginal opening.(1)
The balloon is then gently inflated with the hand pump. The balloon pressure can be reduced at any time by opening the pressure release valve on the hand pump.

The inflated balloon not only stretches the vaginal muscles, it enables the mother to train and experience the sensation of pushing out her baby during delivery (2)
These exercises prepare the mother well for the oncoming birth of her baby.
